Main Areas of Activity

 

The Acquisition and Scientific Processing Sector of Literature carries out the following main activities:

  • systematic acquisition of the library collection with scientifically relevant and manuscript documents in accordance with the subjects of the Academy’s professional and educational programs, curricula, and research activities;
  • registration of incoming and withdrawn library documents, technical processing of documents, and document cataloguing;
  • organization and maintenance of the library reference and information retrieval system.

Functions

  • Carries out collection development and systematically updates the thematic acquisition plan of the library collection in accordance with educational programs, curricula, and the Academy’s research areas.
  • Maintains the textbook supply map for the educational process in cooperation with academic departments.
  • Prepares consolidated orders for documents based on requests submitted by the Academy’s departments and divisions.
  • Acquires documents using various acquisition sources.
  • Maintains records of the library collection.
  • Conducts cumulative, non-inventory, and individual registration of newly received publications with barcode assignment.
  • Performs acceptance, bibliographic description, classification, technical processing, and registration of new acquisitions.
  • Distributes newly acquired literature among the relevant structural divisions of the library.
  • Monitors the fulfillment and completeness of orders.
  • Conducts quarterly and annual reconciliation with the accounting department.
  • Removes publications from accounting records on the basis of write-off acts.
  • Maintains official and topographic catalogues of the Library and Information Center.
  • Maintains the database “Non-Inventory Accounting of Educational Literature.”

Maintains the automated workstation “Acquisition Specialist.”
