On September 15, 2026, the Library and Information Center of South Kazakhstan Medical Academy held an information and practical session for doctoral students on the topic “Effective Use of Electronic Scientific and Information Resources and Databases.”The main purpose of the session was to enhance doctoral students’ information literacy and develop practical skills in using modern electronic resources and national and international scientific databases for research and academic activities.During the session, particular attention was paid to effective methods of searching for, selecting, analyzing, and evaluating scientific information. It was emphasized that the quality of academic research largely depends on the researcher’s ability to identify reliable, relevant, and scientifically valuable information sources.The participants were introduced to the capabilities of major electronic scientific and information resources and databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCO, IPR SMART, RMEB, Aknurpress, EPIGRAPH, as well as other electronic resources.During the practical part of the session, doctoral students worked directly with electronic databases and searched for scientific publications relevant to their individual research areas. They practiced using keywords, refining search queries, selecting relevant publications, and working with scientific literature.Special attention was also given to evaluating the reliability and relevance of scientific sources, organizing research literature, and effectively incorporating selected information into academic research.
