In September–October of the 2026–2027 academic year, the Library of South Kazakhstan Medical Academy organized and conducted library and bibliographic sessions for first-year students.
The main purpose of the sessions was to introduce first-year students to the Library’s information and educational environment, develop their skills in the effective use of library resources and independent search for relevant educational and scientific information, and enhance their information literacy.
During the sessions, students learned about the structure of the Library, its service procedures, rules for using the library collection, and procedures for borrowing and returning educational materials. They were also introduced to the electronic catalogue and shown how to search for required literature and work with bibliographic information.
Special attention was given to the Library’s electronic information resources. Students were introduced to the official website of the SKMA Library, electronic library systems and educational platforms, as well as national and international scientific databases. Practical examples were used to demonstrate effective methods of searching for information required for study and research activities.
Library and bibliographic sessions contribute to the successful adaptation of first-year students to the Academy’s educational environment, the development of independent information-search skills, and the effective use of library resources throughout their studies.
The SKMA Library is a modern information and educational environment that supports high-quality education, professional development, and students’ research activities.
